Interview with Paul McKeznies (The Real McKeznies)

Hello Hello Hello my punk rock friends!

Couple of weeks ago, I got a chance to talk to Paul McKenzie of an amazing Vancouver punk band called The Real McKenzies. Mckenzies (under the name The Flying McKenzie Brothers) have done a secret show at the “Five Little Bitches” book launch event at the Pat’s Pub. The interview took place inside the Pub, therefore the soundquality of the interview is not the best, but it’s listenable. I’ve played this interview on air and mixed it with some new tracks from band’s new studio album called “Westwinds”.

And as usual, in the end of the show, I’ve played some songs from the bands which are performing this weekend in Vancouver. I’ve played songs by Everyone Everywhere and Sharks! On Fire!, because there is a cool show at Tom Lee Music on Saturday featuring Sweetheart, Sharks! On Fire!, Everyone Everywhere, Bridges Out, Friends of 7.

Interviews with Isotopes and Anchoress

Hello Hello Hello my friends!

Recently I did two phone interviews in one show, this time I did two in-studio interviews. It’s wasn’t very easy to pull off logistically, but it turned out to be a pretty fun hour.

First interview was with Evan from local pop punk band called Isotopes. Isotopes is the greatest band in the world to sing about baseball. All their songs are about baseball related topics and even I’m not very familiar with this type of sport, but I really love the concept and obviously their songs. Band’s new Blood Diamond 7” is out and the Release Party is happening at The Media Club this Friday, May 11th with Greenback High, Keep Tidy, Joyce Collingwood.

Second interview was with local post-hardcore band called Anchoress. Anchoress just released their brand new album called Crime & Compass and the CD Release Party is happening on Saturday, May 12th with The Jen Huangs, Northern Guard, Mete Pills, One Life Animal.

We All Fall Down, April 5th, 2012

Hello Hello Hello!

Sorry, that it took me forever to put up this episode of the radioshow. I’ve been really busy with work for past couple of weeks. So here it is!

I’ve started the show with The Decline, an 18-minute punk rock song by NOFX. In my opinion, that’s one of the most important songs in punk music and that’s the beauty of college radio, that we can play 18-minute punk rock on radio airwaves! Then I’ve played a block of fresh Canadian pop-punk / powerpop (The Hextalls, Fear of Lipstick, Uranium Comeback, Sonic Avenues). I was so inspired by Mike’s Flexyourhead 90’s pop punk episode, so I did a block of same type of music myself! Enjoy!

P.S. I had some technical difficulties during the show, but I fixed it on podcast for your listening pleasure!

NOFX - The Decline [The Decline]
THE HEXTALLS - Dirty Kelly Gruber [Rock You To Sleep]
FEAR OF LIPSTICK - 1+1=0 [Seasons]
